Title - Program Manager
Position Summary
The Student Conservation Association provides an array of internship and corps programming across the country. The Program Manager (PM) SCA New York position is responsible for ensuring the safe, complete, and accurate execution of SCAs New York program portfolio in accordance with the uniform practices and procedures established by the Senior Vice President of Program, AmeriCorps Director, and National Program Manager State-Funded AmeriCorps. SCA members in this program will serve across the state to address critical conservation projects that benefit the lands and people of the region. This is a remote-based position but will require frequent travel to program sites and events in the Hudson Valley, Adirondacks, Catskills, and parts of eastern, western and upstate NY.
The PM is responsible for delivering a strong experience for participants through direct support of local SCA program staff. The PM works cross-departmentally to develop a seamless experience from selection of candidates to completion of the program in which they are participating. The PM also works closely with the Training, Education, and Evaluation teams to assure that all materials developed for the member experience support the mission and goals of SCA and our partnering organizations. They are responsible for AmeriCorps compliant program implantation which requires being knowledgeable in AmeriCorps protocols and grant provisions. This position reports to the Senior Program Manager- SCA NY. The annual salary range being offered for this position is $56,000 - $62,000.

Roles and Responsibilities
- Program Planning & Delivery:
- Support programs primary member recruitment activities including developing position postings and program marketing.
- Responsible for assisting HR as requested with the SCA onboarding requirements of project leaders, staff, and members. Review all onboarding documents for staff and members start date to assure accuracy and compliance.
- Develop and maintain appropriate systems for program implementation.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures, including weekly time-keeping logs, narrative reporting, and other SCA mandates.
- Develop specialized curriculum and member training schedules in consultation with program partners and SCAs Education and Training team, and local program staff.
- Schedule and manage contracts with any external trainers.
- Schedule with supervisors and SCA staff to initiate consistent member evaluations.
- Facilitate the development and tracking of SCA NY program budget via consultation with partnership, program staff, and finance staff.
- Assure members are serving in compliance with partner/SCA expectations and AmeriCorps guidelines.
- Conduct program site visits in coordination with partnership and project partners and SCAs risk management department.
- Ensure that program sites are functioning within AmeriCorps compliance and the programs defined performance measures and service objectives.
- Monitor program delivery for successful outcomes related to quality and safety.
- Support a culture of safety and inclusion for all program staff and members.
- Report, track, and respond to incidents in accordance with SCA policies and procedures.
- Develop member/staff performance plans and determine proper disciplinary action when deemed necessary.
- Assist Senior Program Manager (SPM) with grant applications, program proposals and related management tasks.
- Responsible for modeling, facilitating, and building an inclusive community:
- Lead programs in alignment with SCA Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) policies and SCA Core Values.
- Participation in JEDI trainings and professional development opportunities.
- Help recruit, hire, and train crew leaders and members of BIPOC identifying backgrounds.
- Lead programs/training that facilitate Social and Emotional Development among SCA NY staff & members.
- Program Improvements:
- Work closely with SCA staff and external partners to identify opportunities for improvement, always with an eye toward enhancing SCAs focus on justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion.
- Review SCA and partner risk management policies and serve as the key personnel in decision making regarding adjustments and changes to policies and procedures via consultation with program partners and SCAs Director of Risk Management.
- Liaise with SCAs Risk Management department to monitor incident trends to improve quality of safety, adherence to mandatory administrative requirements and curriculum requirements.
- Internal SCA Engagement:
- Work cross-departmentally to develop program models, goals, content, and performance outcomes that align with SCA and partner goals.
- Attend weekly State-Funded AmeriCorps team meetings, as well as any relevant internal department meetings with Community, Crew and Corps, and other departments.
- External Engagement:
- Attend as SCA representative, all AmeriCorps required trainings and grantee meetings for the SCA NY program.
- Represent SCA at events and conferences that highlight the program.
- Build and maintain alumni network in concert with or as requested by the Director of Alumni.
- 4-8 years of progressively responsible experience including skills related to the position such as program management, extensive leadership in an outdoor setting, experience working with programmatic partners, and grant/budget management.
- Experience managing a Corps or similar grant funded program preferred.
- Strong communication skills when working with various external and internal partners.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Experience working with youth from racially and socioeconomically diverse backgrounds.
- Knowledge of conservation, climate action, and sustainability.
- Demonstrated team leadership and supervisory experience.
- Demonstrated proactive approaches to problem-solving with strong decision-making capability.
- Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion, be adaptable to various competing demands.
- Demonstrate the highest level of customer/client service and response.
- Demonstrated ability to achieve high performance goals and meet deadlines.
- Salesforce experience a plus.
- Ability to travel approximately 20-30% of time including occasional overnight to attend required trainings, programmatic site visits, and partner meetings.
