Annual Conference

The signature event is our annual fall conference. Attended by educators, managers, directors, and staff of organizations from across the state and nation, the conference is an excellent opportunity for networking, attending workshops, participating in outdoor activities, and supporting outdoor education in New York State. As conference locations rotate throughout the five regions (Eastern, Metro, Northern, Western, and Central), it also provides a great way to learn about various parts of the state.

Online registration for the 57th Annual NYSOEA conference is closed, however there may be limited availability to register day-of on-site.
How do I sign up for workshops?
Workshop sign-ups are virtual this year and will open at 9:00 AM on Monday, November 3, 2025. Workshops with remaining space after virtual sign-ups will be available for in-person registration at the conference.
Are continuing education credits (CEUs/PD hours) offered?
Workshops offering Continuing Teacher and Leader Education (CTLE) credits are noted in the workshop schedule. If you need formal documentation that you attended a workshop, you can print our workshop attendance verification document and for the workshop presenter to sign.
Where is the conference being held? Is there parking available on-site?
The event is located in our Eastern Region at The Fresh Air Fund’s Sharpe Reservation in Fishkill, NY. MAPS
If you’re arriving by train and need transportation from the Beacon Train Station to Sharpe Reservation, please email [email protected] to join our carpool list.
Are there accessible entrances, restrooms, or mobility accommodations?
Camp Hidden Valley is considered one of the Fresh Air Fund’s more accessible camps. Accessible parking is located in the center loop by the dining hall. Buildings near the dining hall have been made more accessible by Fresh Air staff. If you have specific accessibility questions, please email us at [email protected].
What should I bring to the conference?

We recommend packing for comfort, connection, and fun!
  • Warm layers for evening and outdoor activities.
  • Pen and notebook for workshops.
  • A reusable travel mug, cup, and water bottle (help us stay sustainable!)

Essentials if staying onsite:
  • Bedding, a pillow, towel, and shower supplies; toiletries and any personal items you need.

Nice-to-haves:
  • Business cards to share or post on our community bulletin board.
  • A camp chair for fireside chats or outdoor workshops.
  • Instruments for campfire jam sessions.

For Special Events:
  • Rep Your Region Sustainability Competition (Thursday): BYO “Taste of New York” to share—snacks, local wine, beer, etc. The region with the least disposable packaging wins!
  • Plant Swap: Bring a potted plant or clipping to exchange.
  • Cocktail Hour & Member’s Art Show: Bring your artwork to display and share. Signup Here.
  • Banquet: Pack semi-formal or dress clothes.
  • Raffle Items: Bring a unique, new, or gently used item to donate! Fan favorites include teaching skulls and furs, field guides, museum or sports tickets, like-new outdoor gear, local wine, or handmade items.

And most importantly—bring your enthusiasm for learning, networking, and celebrating environmental learning!

I signed up to be a mentor/mentee. What does that mean?
At the 2025 conference, our mentoring and networking opportunities will be ongoing. Look for tabletop questions at meals and bulletin board opportunities to share contact information and interests.
Who can I contact for general questions?
For general inquiries, feel free to email us at [email protected].
